2010 Installation of Officers

Lodge News January 22nd, 2010

The Elected and Appointed Officers for 2010 were duly installed on Tuesday, January 19th. The Installing Officers were Most Worshipful R. Stephen Doan, Past Grand Master of Masons in California (Installing Officer), Worshipful Blackie Passarelli (Master of Ceremonies) and Most Worshipful David R. Doan, Past Grand Master of Masons in California (Installing Chaplain).

Following the remarks of Worshipful Rick Garcia (Retiring Master), the installation ceremony was performed and David Neal was installed as Master of Sunset Lodge for 2010.

The colors were presented by Cloverfield Composite Squadron 51, Civil Air Defense. The ritual was performed in a most excellent fashion by the installing team.

The Past Master apron and credentials were presented to Rick Garcia by the lodge Secretary, John Barry. A very impressive gavel carved from whale bone was presented to our new Master by Worshipful Robbie Robinson, who had crafted the gavel by hand.

Following the installation ceremony, everyone retired to the dining room for our traditional refreshments. As our new Master is a professional musician, the dining room had been decorated with a Rock & Roll theme, much to the delight of all.

Our new Master hails from Newfoundland in Canada, and is the third Canadian to serve as Master of Sunset Lodge, the others being Worshipful Murray Cooke and Worshipful Michael Wamback. In fact, all three are from the Atlantic Coast of Canada, as Murray and Michael were both raised in Nova Scotia.

We wish David and all the 2010 Officers the very best this year.

Model Railroad Show, Thanksgiving Dinner

Events October 8th, 2009

bridge_meetJoin Sunset Lodge and Group 160 N-Trak Club for our bi-annual Model Railway Show. This is one of our most popular events during the year, and is much looked forward to by our members, as well as by our local community.

Group 160 will construct a 12 foot x 24 foot N-Scale model railway layout in our lodge room, which will be on public display. N-Scale features tracks that are 9mm in width, and is considered an optimum size for doing large scenic layouts in relatively small spaces.

If you are interested or active in the hobby of model railroading, then you will want to take this opportunity to socialize with the expert model railroaders from Group 160.

This is an event for kids of all ages, including inner children!

The event will be open to the public on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

The members, family and invited guests of Sunset Lodge are then welcome to join us for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner served in our dining room following the show.

Time: 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM
